Remember when running a Microsoft product only needed three floppy disks to install?

You had to remember every command line to get around? Change directories, rename files.. folders?, rename the volume label of your hard drive? FDisk? Did you ever have to install a CD rom drive using DOS?

Now it takes a DVD up to four gigabytes of installation files, and miscellaneous bullshit to get your computer up an running?

People bitch now about how much windows frustrates them, yet remembering command lines and getting errors like, “Access denied, Bad command or file name, Bad or missing command interpreter”, my favorite… “Drive not ready error”

You knew you were fucked when your screen said, “Abort, Retry, Fail?”

Now we are stuck with error messages like this one…

What is my point? If you do not like Windows Vista, then go back to DOS, some believe it was the only “perfect operating system” If you remember, it sucked too… “General Failure”

I have been on a need lately to add songs to my iTunes library. It amazes me how many cd’s I had yet added, or songs I needed to download. I finally have all of Smashing Pumpkins, N.W.A., Drowning Pool, Rammstien, and someone else I am forgetting but that is ok…

I have spent my entire day either cranking my speakers and jamming out to music, or finishing more missions on GTA4 (obviously).

I did have to get up at the buttcrack of dawn today and go into work to complete a couple of tasks.. but that’s ok. I like getting in there before open when I have shit to do. I get more done when I am not being interrupted.

I need to remember to call RatShack tomorrow and make sure my service plan has been processed so I can get my iPod replaced… that way I have one more working device for listening to my music… (not that I have enough already.. *laughs*)

I think my wife is pissed at me though.. so I am going to go smooth things over with her so I don’t have to sleep on the couch..

This post really sucks… but the picture of my character standing over a bloody corps of a police officer should make up for it…

Two things are official…

1. my iPod is dead.. that sucks.. because I don’t have a way to listen to my music.

The good news? Since it is no longer carried, then I will receive a gift card for the amount I paid for the unit, and I will pick up an iPod touch instead. I just have to wait for the replacement funds to arrive in the mail from the service plan people..

2. Vacation count down has begun! I start my vacation on the 12th of February and runs through to the 17th. There will more then likely a lot of nothing getting done. I need a break from the last few months. There has been so much shit going on with work, new bosses (twice), promotion, staff changes, etc.

I NEED TO GET AWAY!!

Think of how much GTA4 I can play!! I am sure I will have it finished.. is there any recommendations for the next game I should pick up?

Anyway… a little over two weeks and counting…

I HATE EXPERTS EXCHANGE!! every other fucking time I look up something on the internet regarding trouble shooting or similar I always end up with experts exchange answers and wanting to me to pay before I find the answer… I wish I still knew people whom could hack sites!!

Once every few years I will purchase a CD, or in rare cases receive them as gifts. This past holiday my daughter gave me Chinese Democracy on cd.

While I was taking a shit, I was reading the contents on the inside of the cd sleeve. There are comments in there thanking everyone from Slash (no shit!), Bucket head, MTV, The Laundry mat, the fans, etc.. the very last bit of appreciation on their fourteen year list is to “everyone at Best Buy”

Why?

If asked anyone at Best Buy I do not think they would return the gratitude. I personally do not think Chinese Democracy is all that bad. There are some songs I like, others I do not.. but thanking Best Buy? I don’t get it … they should have thanked Dr. Pepper instead.. they were left out.. probably a lawsuit on the way too… from Dr. Pepper.. they should counter Axl’s lawsuit with … “you didn’t thank Dr. Pepper”

*shrugs* would have made more sense to me… and Best Buy I am sure..

I am disappointed Sirius / XM removed the AC/DC channel. I would care more if I paid for the service as opposed to renewing my free trial accounts every three days or when ever I want to listen to satellite radio.

Remember when Jennifer Love Hewitt used to be hot? I am referring to when she was near the beginning of her career making shitty movies like “I know what you did last summer”

or when she was on TV “Party Of Five”

In my opinion this was the best picture of her ever taken. Now that she has become more or a house hold name with her boring ass show, “The Ghost Whisper..er…” she kind of lost her “errr…” appeal..

*sigh* too bad really .. I would have rather jerked off watching her get banged every which way from Sunday in a good porno then knowing her fate remained on television.. *laughs*

Speaking of television.. Peter Cullen is returning to Knight Rider world to provide the voice of K.A.R.R.! Hell yeah.. they may not have gotten Anthony Daniels to return as Kitt, but at least they were able to get K.A.R.R. right..

That would be like having someone else do the voice of Optimus Prime in a shitty cartoon remake or spin off of Transformers.. oh yeah..

I guess they are eliminating some of the characters from Knight Rider starting with the dad and the government retards. Hopefully they keep Smith Cho she is pretty hot! The rest of those fuckers can get annihilated and I would be cool with that.

Kansas was blessed with a snow shower this morning. Since all the retards will be out driving in the snow like it is either their first time or the laws of gravity do not apply to them, I decided to come to work very early.

Fortunately I brought in my notebook to keep me busy until it was time to punch in. Instead of risking my job by hooking up to the company lan, I turned my Treo into a router, and connected through it.

I guess I will finally see if Sprint’s 3G network is all it is cracked up to be when it comes to internet usage.. *smiles*

So far it seems to be holding up pretty well.. I can’t complain.. much.. *laughs* If you want to check it out.. google Cellular to Wifi a word of caution, if you do not have an unlimited data plan I would advise heavily against it…

If it stays this slow, I would rather stayed home and blown more shit up.. *laughs* I have some to terms with the fact I have issues, but I am ok with that… I really am…

The send feed back link at the top right hand corner of every window with in Win 7 is kind of annoying. I keep wanting to click it .. it is almost as if it is taunting me… *raising eyebrow*

Circuit City to shut down Aww.. poor Suck-It City … I never cared for their business practices anyway.. It sucks people are losing jobs it really does… but CC should have gone belly up a long time ago..

I guess I will have to go to Best Buy for all my electronic needs.. oh wait.. I was doing that anyway…

I installed Windows Seven on both my desktop and my notebook. I have gone on about how much I enjoy the new Windows, but I continue to find things I “LIKE” about the upcoming Windows..

For example, there is a new feature called “Home group”. I can access my documents and shit stored on my main computer from my notebook with out having to set up a “shared drive”, etc. It’s pretty cool …

GTA 4… I don’t care too much for the storing video clips and only being able to access them through the game itself using the cel phone. It’s really annoying.. Fortunately I have found a way to do what I want using a separate program called, fraps.

If you ever want to easily create screen shots of your games or videos… this program will do it for you… it’s pretty bad ass.

To hell with the missions.. I would rather run pedestrians over, smash up cars, and have a good old fashioned shoot out with my friends… the LCPD.. *chuckles*

Fortunately my wife has not been too upset with me spending time on the computer playing this game… *laughs*

BTW … GTA4 does run better on Windows 7 also… *smiles*

I have been playing around with the new windows when I have not been working. I have pissed it off a couple of times.. but all in all I actually still like it!

I have decided to take the plunge and upgrade my desktop to Windows 7 also. I could have spent the day blowing shit up, but I decided to take this opportunity to update the desktop. The wife seemed interested in the new Windows also. (I think it is more because she can place sticky notes all over the freakin place but whatever…)

What cracks me up is Vista gave my desktop a fucking 5.7 Rating.. and Windows 7 gave my desktop a 6.0 Rating.. Windows Experience is shit.. Utter and complete shit…

I have to snag the 32 bit version for her though because I do not think some of her games will work in 64 bit. Plus I would have to format and reinstall everything on her notebook. I don’t want to fuck with that… so she gets the 32 bit version…

Still blowing shit up on GTA4. I am fucking sick bastard when I play this game. I thrive on running people over.. and getting chased by the police just to end in a shoot out. One of my other favorites is while running from the police, I squish police offices against their police cars as I drive by them. Smashing the police into their police cars is quite fun! *laughs maniac ally*

Soon I will provide screen shots… or video… or something …

I hate it when my kid tries to play me… tries to tell me one thing.. when I know her mother told her another… I would be more upset if I didn’t pull the same shit when I was a kid.. so .. oh well… *laughs*

Well… like the millions… *in the Rocks voice* and millions! of people on the internet I downloaded and installed the latest beta of Windows 7.

I have only played with it for a few hours since I was too tired to mess with it after I installed in on my notebook last night. There are some things I really like about it, and there are some things which are very Vista like.

Then again I don’t recall having problems with Vista.. Ultimate… yeah..

Pros…

I like the task bar!! It isn’t total suck like it has since inception! The whole full screen previews feature is kind of cool… (I couldn’t do a screen cap so I “borrowed” this one from MS)

From pounding around on it for a little while I do notice it does run faster on my notebook then Vista. Then again I have enough hardware to run it. I have put off installing it on my family members machines because of the hardware Vista requires. Windows 7 is definitely the way to go. Much faster..

There is one program I noticed with this install, live journal. It’s kind of a cool Blogdesk idea. Unfortunately you cannot write up on post and have it uploaded to more then one site without having to copy and paste. The idea is still kind of cool … maybe next time MS will get that right.. *laughs*

My wife gets a kick out of the sticky notes feature. It is a lot like sticky notes which came pre loaded on that stupid ass desktop menu bar. However you can easily access it and use it with out that stupid desktop menu bar. The desktop menu bar is still there but it’s not visible on your desktop unless you choose to make it visible.

Oh yeah.. and there is a new feature called “Action Center”. It’s kind of the catch all window for all the errors and shit you receive from Windows because you did something it didn’t like. It also makes suggestions like installing anti virus.. etc..

Cons..

Norton was recommended as one of the three Anti-Virus programs to be used with Windows 7. It was between Norton, AVG, and Kaspersky.

It was almost like being asked if you wanted to be pinned down and ass rapped by a hundred maniacs (Norton), drink sour milk (AVG) or a cup of water… (Kaspersky).

THAT FUCKING EXPERIENCE INDEX BULLSHIT!! I hate that fucking experience index!! It is such a crock of shit. It is probably the one thing in Vista I hate the most! My desktop running Vista Ultimate was rated at a 5.7!! a FUCKING 5.7!! 7 Gigs of ram, 640 Gig HHD, and a video card with 1 Gig of rock your nuts off memory and it only received 5.7!!

UAC (Useless Annoying Crap) another feature I do not understand. I hate it more then the experience index.( No I hate the experience index more.)The way I see it, if you are too stupid to know what you are doing with your computer and you are downloading shit you are not supposed to or shit you do not understand then just put Norton on it while you are at it.. or put a bullet in your computer.. same thing… Fortunately.. there is a way to turn it off in Windows 7 with out windows bitching about it every time you turn it on.

That’s about it … I honestly like the new Windows… more then Vista?? Yes in the sense that it does seem to run better. But it still has some of the bullshit in it I didn’t like about Vista..

Anyway .. check it out.. don’t check it out… as of this post Microsoft was still giving away free serials good until Aug 2009 for the latest Beta.

In my quest to continue tricking out my new desktop I decided to go ahead and install the Vista Dream scene desktop. I already had it on my notebook, but I never really used it.

I found a couple of dream scenes I like thus I now have one going instead of my background of Jennifer Ellison. They are both water themed. Supposedly water helps calm you which to me is humorous since they make me want to do three things…

1. Take a piss

2. Go swimming..

3. Get something to drink

I also picked up a copy of GTA4. Now that I have a desktop that can run it, and I am such a huge fan of the GTA series, I figure I might as well give the game a whirl.

After playing this game for a while I have to admit… I am unsure if I can ever play the previous games again. The graphics are amazing, the special affects are off the hook! Slamming into other cars and watching their windows shatter is spot on.. The blood stains on the car from running people over to the detail of damages shown on your car from your chaos is just amazing!

Violence like this can only come from the gang at Rockstar… and this is relaxing… *laughs*

I know… I know.. I am one fucked up individual… but I am ok with that…

Moving on to something less morbid.. but possibly disturbing.. I decided I wanted to get “real phone” ringtones.. because everyone has some fucking song that plays on their phone when it rings. I have even seen some stupid mother fuckers stop what they are doing and dance to the ringer playing on their phone…

I digress… anyway.. I went on a quest to find some ringtones which made my treo sound like a phone.. when my team calls me their ringtone sounds like an office phone.. my default ringer sounds like a different office phone.. and then I have the iphone ringer for my “apple experts”, and the classic old style ringtone for my grandparents…

It kept me busy for a few minutes..

I read on a few web sites Microsoft is going to provide a free download of the new Windows 7 to the first 2.5 Million customers on Friday Jan 9th… Well ok then .. sounds like it could be interesting..

I bet it is already available on Torrents everywhere… if not it will be in a couple of days… why fight the rush? *shrugs* I’m just saying…
